Recently TechLink Services completed a couple of interesting iDirect VSAT antenna installations for a new client.  Both installations required larger iDirect VSAT antennas one a 1.8m and the other 2.4m.  We also used 4 watt BUCs.  Ground pole mounts were utilized and were efficiently installed using only a two person crew.  To ensure accuracy, the [...]

This installation client had been using a smaller WildBlue type system for their field operations.  They needed to change services so they ordered Linkstar.   We learned from some early phone surveys that the installation was going to be on a box trailer that would be moved from site to site, and that a $20-30,000 auto [...]

Portalable Economical VSAT Installation

This installation client had been using a smaller WildBlue type system for their field operations.  They needed to change services so they ordered Linkstar.   We learned from some early phone surveys that the installation was going to be on a box trailer that would be moved from site to site, and that a $20-30,000 auto deploy system didn’t fit their budget for this project.

The client had been manually aligning the smaller Ka band system when they got to each new location, so they had some antenna pointing experience and some technical expertise.  Our job was to retrofit a mount for a 1.0m antenna onto the trailer, so that all the technician on site would need to do is place the antenna on the mount and peak and pol the antenna with the NOC.

Up to this point our technician or any of our staff had seen the trailer.  Our technician did what any good technician working in the High Desert of our Western States does…he thought on his feet and came up with a mount  using readily available hardware that would serve the purpose for our client, and saving them a lot of money.  It worked great and the client was pleased.  They were so pleased that they didn’t even let us know they were dropping of another trailer for us to set up the same as the first one for another 1.0m antenna, they just dropped it off for TechLink Services to do its thing.
